I personally think that the distinction between art music and popular music is now completely outdated. It is much more effective to distinguish the music into beautiful music or bad one, rather than by gender. It is not enough to be born in the 18th century to be considered an interesting author, in fact some of them have been completely forgotten. Recovery operations of alleged masterpieces of the past are sometimes dictated by philological or musicologist intent _ therefore scientific _ rather than artistic. This album, instead, proposes a very valuable repertoire of great artistic and emotional impact, that of the French Chansonniers of the Twentieth Century, representing a very important chapter in the history of music thanks to their ability to create a kind of bohémien lifestyle with an element of political commitment and of social criticism, always expressed with poetic style (M.Priore’s quotation). This is the reason why many academics affirm that the student protests of 1968 could begin only in France. I believe that this beautiful CD, will be appreciated by cultured persons and will inspire the younger generation, today more than ever at risk of flattening, on how to search for and find a new sensibility, a renewed zest for life and a deep awareness that “Freedom is participation “. My sincere congratulations to Lucia Minetti, without a doubt one of the best interpreters of the songwriters on the world stage, and a proud thanks to the teachers and students of the Padua Conservatory “C. Pollini” who have made a contribution of great elegance and musicality to the realization of Fil Rouge.
Leopoldo Armellini, Director of the Conservatory C. Pollini of Padua

PHOTOGRAPHS & MEMORIES TRIBUTE TO JIM CROCE
Pop. Original compositions by: J. Croce, C. Fox, N. Gibel, F. Mazzaron, A. Arcuri, M. Muehleisen, F. Ranghiero. All arrangements by F. Ranghiero. Barbara Belloni Voice; Four Fried Fish: Fabio Ranghiero Grandpiano & Hammond, Flamiano Mazzaron Guitars, Alessandro Arcuri Bass & Double Bass, Alberto Toninelli Drums. 24bit/88.2 kHz original live-in-studio recorded in Velut Luna Studio, Preganziol, Italy, on July 14, 15, 16 - 2012. I discovered Jim Croce and his songs in a hot afternoon, at the beginning of the summer in 1980, while I was preparing my school leaving examination. I soon loved his world, made of little stories, never banal, constructed on “that” music I already loved, a masterly mix of country and blues: I immediately became aware that, sooner or later ,I should have had to do something more to keep alive the memory of this sincere and nice musician. Since then 32 years are passed... and 39 years since that awful night, the 20th of September 1973, during which a cruel destiny, concealed between the wings of the Beechcraft D-18 and the only Peacan Tree that separated the plane from the open sky, took away Jim, and here I am, at last, to pay tribute to an artist who has been and is important to me and to many other people, who loved and will always love his songs. So long, Jim ! Marco Lincetto About the “Memories” Choosing among Jim’s many songs for this CD hasn’t been painless. It was clear since the beginning that many of his most beautiful pieces couldn’t have found the deserved space. Besides, as arranger, I wanted to find a way to involve even more the other musicians in the project. The “memories” are so originated, with the request to create a short personal piece inspired by one or more songs of the American singer-songwriter. The task of the listeners is to close their eyes and recognize some notes or phrasing concealed in the memory. Fabio Ranghiero
It’s always difficult to talk about something that involves you directly. Like, for example, of an album for which you take care of the artistic production. And an album, if you have decided to devote yourself to it, to offer it your time, your skills, your commitment, is like a son. Although you didn’t write it, or perform it, you end up being part of it. I have produced about twenty albums, I could’ve produce more, maybe, but I always chose to work with and for the quality. Presenting this album, this one, is even more difficult because we are talking about two sons, plus a few adopted ones. It’s not a secret, Jacopo, Sick 4 Milk’s leader, is my son. I have known some of his adventure pals since they had just started to wear long trousers, some since when I still had the slight hope of keeping some hair on my head. Have I artistically produced my son’s album? No, even though there wouldn’t be anything wrong with this: I produced Sick 4 Milk’s first album, a band of which I’ve been a fan since the first concerts at some roman pubs. I’m hypercritical with my sons, with the legitimated and the adopted. I have been so for all these years (not so many, but a lot compared to the age of the band’s members), until, as passionate and professional in the “music and similar” business, I understood that this talent, obvious since long time ago, penetrated deep down these guys’ souls, leading them to an artistic maturity that some groups more from my time than theirs, still haven’t reached. I didn’t decide to do an album: chatting one night with Marco Lincetto, I asked him to listen to a piece, the first one in unplugged version that was on youtube, just to have his opinion. Marco, after a few minutes wrote to me: Excellent, I want to do this album. I didn’t have to struggle or convince anybody and this was a great relief. And it gave me confort in my assumption of knowing music well and of recognising talents, in other words of knowing how to do my beautiful job. I obviously knew that the Velut Luna recording would have been of high quality, it was perfect indeed. Then come what may, these guys are talented, not only in music, and this being talented in many other things other than music, is in my opinion the reason why at their young age they already look like a mature and famous group. Because I never believed in talent without intelligence and knowledge or at least the desire to learn. And forgive me if I badly quoted Miles Davis. If I may say, I will end this short presentation with a genetic-affective-animistic note: The acoustic ovation that Jacopo plays is the one that belonged to his uncle Danilo who left it prematurely as an inheritance to his unworthy brother who passed it to his son (a very long loan) It is the number 1037, the first to arrive to Italy. And in the last 35 years it played very well its role treading the stage all over Italy and around the world without ever missing a beat.
