This CD is not entirely dedicated to the viola although, as soloist, it shares the Timelight with the piano. The viola here sets the program, only apparently anthological and perhaps somewhat discontinuous. The program begins in fact under the auspices of the viola with the Concerto in c minor for viola and string orchestra by Johann Christian Bach, then proceeding "Iogically" to Mozart, who was a friend and admirer of the Cantor's last-born to the point that he adopted some of Bach's musical styIe. The Salzburg genius is not on the program with works dedicated to the viola, rather with one of his piano concerti and with his famous Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. In the middle, between these works, a 20th century piece has been placed; dense with colours and with the viola again in the spotlight: Andalusian Scenes by Joaquin Turina, a suite conceived in a moment in which the Cinderella of strings - also thanks to Hindemith and Bartok - had finally become a true Princess.
